Presentation

The Guadalquivir River Basin District is the organization which competences are, among other, the hydrologic planning of water resources flowing along the Guadalquivir demarcation, general interest work accomplishment, as well as the construction and operation of works, administration and control of the uses of general interest or which affect more than one region, and the administration and control of public water. This requires a great deal of data relating to water and the territory and these are represented on digital cartography.

The request of this information by citizens and different institutions require an important amount of resources. That is why in the last few years work has been carried-out to build a system that brings together cartographic and alphanumeric information of proved quality and offers remote services for access to geospatial data. The system emphasizes the importance of complying withe Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards and rules series 19100 from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Besides for the implementation of specifications from the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe Directive (INSPIRE) and its law bill for transposition to national scope, special attention has been paid to the recommendations from the IDEE Workgroup.

All in all The Guadalquivir River Basin District Infrastructure of Spatial Data (IDE-CHG) intends to provide access to spatial information both for institutions and citizens as well as to optimize decision taking within the organization.

Finally the objective is to allow knowledge of the complex geographic reality of the basin and to potentiate relations with the users through a broader presence in the web by using a group of interoperability standards, protocols and specifications.
